Information for Individual Customers
If you do not find the answer to your question below, please contact our customer service department at unpjournals@highwirepress.com or 1-866-978-0295.
Ordering
There are four ways to order print subscriptions and back issues:
- Order online by visiting individual journal pages on this website. If you have ordered from us in the past, but are logging into our ecommerce system for the first time, see the section on viewing your account information for tips on accessing your existing account.
- Order by phone by calling 1-866-978-0295.
- Order by mail by sending a check ($US) that includes any applicable taxes or shipping and handling and is made payable to MPS North America LLC to:
University of Nebraska Press
c/o MPS North America LLC
941 West Morse Blvd, Ste. 100
Winter Park, FL 32789
Be sure to clearly indicate what you are ordering (which journal and, if a back issue, which issue).
Include a phone number or email address in case we have any questions.
- Western American Literature is published by the University of Nebraska Press for the Western Literature Association. The association handles all orders and customer service issues for this journal.
View/update your account information
Individual subscribers can view their account information and make changes to their account information in our e-commerce system.
Please note: If you are logging into this system for the first time but have ordered journals from us before, please use the “forgot password” option rather than “register”; this will allow you to log into your existing account. If you do not receive a password reset email, contact us. It may be that we do not have your current email address on file in our system, and will need to update our records before you can log into your account. A rarer possibility is that your email provider is blocking our automated emails; in that case, we can help you establish a password and log in.
Information about print subscriptions
- All postage and handling is already included in the price of a print subscription.
- It is the policy of the University of Nebraska Press to charge the “individual” subscription rate if a subscription is paid for by a personal check or credit card. Otherwise, the institutional rate applies.
- Once a subscription order is placed, no cancellations are allowed.
- With a few exceptions, our print subscriptions are volume-based. That means your one-year subscription will consist of issues from the same volume. Unless you tell us specifically which volume you wish to subscribe to, we will determine the most logical volume, and, therefore, starting issue, for your subscription.
- Please notify us in advance of any address changes. When contacting us, provide both the old and new address.
- We will honor claims for missing or damaged issues for six months after the original mailing date of an issue. All claims should be sent to the University of Nebraska Press, not the journal’s editor or its related society. (The exception is Western American Literature. Both orders and claims must be directed to the Western Literature Association.)
Information about electronic subscriptions
- Most of the journals published by the University of Nebraska Press are available online on the Project MUSE platform.

Information about back issues
- Postage and handling will be added to back issue orders.
- Allow up to 2 weeks for standard delivery to addresses in the US, although most will be delivered within 7 business days. Most standard international orders will be delivered within 8 weeks, but some may take longer. If you have concerns about a back issue order, please contact customer service.
- Our standard shipping method for back issues delivered to US addresses is USPS Ground Advantage. We can provide tracking information on request, but it may take a few days for us to receive that information from our warehouse.
- As a general rule, orders shipped via our standard method cannot be considered “lost” until after 3 weeks in the US and 12 weeks outside the US.
- Expedited shipping and handling is available. Customers can choose “expedited” at checkout, and their orders will be shipped, most commonly, via FedEx Ground or FedEx International Economy. Faster options are available by calling us.
