Call for Papers: “Narrative Medicine in Unhealthy Times”

A special issue of Storyworlds: A Journal of Narrative Studies

Storyworlds: A Journal of Narrative Studies, published by the University of Nebraska Press, is inviting submissions for a special issue titled “Narrative Medicine in Unhealthy Times.” We welcome papers focused on a variety of topics in the multidisciplinary of narrative medicine, including the following broad categories:
• Historical perspectives that present the emergence of narrative medicine as a distinct sub-field of study
• Narrative medicine, suffering, and empathy
• Ethics of research and narrative medicine
• Narrative medicine and the biopolitical
• Narrative medicine and the Covid-19 pandemic
• Neoliberalism and narrative medicine
• Educational challenges in narrative medicine
• Inequalities and injustices in/and narrative medicine
• Multimedia storytelling and narrative medicine

Papers should be between 6,000 and 10,000 words in length, including notes and references. For format and style, please follow the journal guidelines available at:
