Ordering

There are four ways to order print subscriptions and back issues:

  • Order online by visiting individual journal pages on this website.
  • Order by phone by calling 1-402-472-8536 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover as payment for phone orders.
  • Order by mail by sending your credit card information or a check ($US) that includes any applicable taxes or shipping and handling and is made payable to the University of Nebraska Press to:

                University of Nebraska Press
                1111 Lincoln Mall
                Lincoln, NE 68588-0630

  • Be sure to clearly indicate what you are ordering (which journal and, if a back issue, which issue). Include a phone number or email address in case we have any questions.
  • Institutions may also order through their preferred subscription agents.
  • There are different procedures for ordering electronic (online access) subscriptions.
  • Individuals must order electronic subscriptions online.
  • Institutions must order electronic subscriptions through the appropriate online platform, either Project MUSE or JSTOR. They also handle our print + electronic combination subscriptions for institutions. Subscription agents may place those orders for their client institutions.
  • Western American Literature is published by the University of Nebraska Press for the Western Literature Association. The association handles all orders and customer service issues for this journal.

Information about print subscriptions

  • All postage and handling is already included in the price of a print subscription.
  • It is the policy of the University of Nebraska Press to charge the “individual” subscription rate if a subscription is paid for by a personal check or credit card. Otherwise, the institutional rate applies.
  • Once a subscription order is placed, no cancellations are allowed.
  • With a few exceptions, our print subscriptions are volume-based. That means your one-year subscription will consist of issues from the same volume. Unless you tell us specifically which volume you wish to subscribe to, we will determine the most logical volume, and, therefore, starting issue, for your subscription.
  • Please notify us in advance of any address changes. When contacting us, provide both the old and new address.
  • We will honor claims for missing or damaged issues for six months after the original mailing date of an issue. All claims should be sent to the University of Nebraska Press, not the journal’s editor or its related society. (The exception is Western American Literature. Both orders and claims must be directed to the Western Literature Association.)

Information about electronic subscriptions

  • Most of the journals published by the University of Nebraska Press are available online on the Project MUSE platform.
  • Libraries and other institutions may subscribe to the journals as part of a Project MUSE collection or as single title subscriptions. In either case, the subscription should be placed directly with Project MUSE or a library subscription agent.
  • If individuals are able to subscribe to the electronic version of a journal, it will be one of the subscription options on the journal’s page on this website. All individual subscriptions to electronic journals must be ordered online.

Institutions experiencing problems with access to their subscriptions should contact customer support at the appropriate platform.

We have found the most common problem individual subscribers have in accessing their subscriptions online is that they attempt to use their University of Nebraska Press logins on the Project MUSE site. Always access your e-sub from the University of Nebraska Press website, using your UNP login. It will take you to the appropriate journal on the Project MUSE site. Ignore any mention of logging in on the Project MUSE site; not only is in unnecessary, it will break the authentication you received from our website. If you still have problems, email us at journals@unl.edu.
