Information for JSTOR Hosting Program Subscribers: FAQs

What does the University of Nebraska Press’s departure from the JSTOR Hosting Program mean for my current subscriptions on JSTOR? How do I renew my University of Nebraska Press subscriptions for the 2021 subscription year?

Beginning in 2021, all University of Nebraska Press subscriptions will need to be made with Project MUSE and will be accessed through the Project MUSE platform.

How much time will I have to transition?

All 2021 renewals will be through Project MUSE. JSTOR will provide two months of grace access, January-February 2021; otherwise, subscribers will need to transition to the MUSE platform by the end of the 2020 calendar year in order to maintain continued access.

Will I need to sign a new license agreement?

No, single title institutional subscriptions on Project MUSE do not require license agreements.

Will there be a change in tiers/classifications?

Yes, there will be a change: Project MUSE does not offer tiers/ classifications for single title institutional subscriptions. 2021 prices will be listed on the MUSE site by the end of summer 2020 and also shared with subscription agents.

What if I have a full run subscription to a UNP title?

Single-title subscriptions on Project MUSE include access to all current and available back issue content on MUSE; this access exists for the term of the subscription. However, not all University of Nebraska Press titles have their full run on Project MUSE. In those instances, subscriptions to both the Project MUSE content and the JSTOR archival content would be necessary to preserve access to the full run of the journal.

The following UNP journals leaving the JSTOR Hosting Program have their full run on Project MUSE:
Feminist German Studies
(including the previous title, Women in German Yearbook)
Storyworlds: A Journal of Narrative Studies
Resilience: A Journal of the Environmental Humanities

The following UNP journals leaving the JSTOR Hosting Program do not have their full run on Project MUSE:
American Indian Quarterly
Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies
Legacy: A Journal of American Women Writers
Studies in American Indian Literatures

How does this change affect UNP content with JSTOR’s archival collections?

This change does not affect the University of Nebraska Press’s participation in the JSTOR archival collections. Content now available in a JSTOR archive collection will remain there, and content will continue to be added according the the journals’ moving wall policies.

Will the discounted University of Nebraska Press Package continue to be available?

No. Each title will need to be ordered separately at its regular price unless the library subscribes to a Project MUSE collection that includes the title.

Are the UNP titles leaving the JSTOR Hosting Program available as part of Project MUSE collections?

All the UNP titles leaving the JSTOR Hosting Program are available as part of one or more Project MUSE collections except for Resilience. Resilience is available as a single-title subscription, only.
